Saturday, August 29, 2026 : Traveling in My Own City

Today we went to Porta at Kyoto Station.
It was raining when we left,
and we couldn't decide between the train and our bikes, but in the end we took the bikes.
We went into a tempura shop in Porta.
It's a casual place that serves the tempura fresh out of the fryer.
We both ordered the tempura set, and then added a few dishes on the side.
The tempura came out arranged in a wooden box.
Shrimp, and several kinds of vegetables.
After we finished eating, we took a break at Tsujiri in front of Kyoto Station.
It was raining, so it doubled as shelter from the rain.
On the way home, I went to the bathroom under Kyoto Tower.
There were a lot of people there visiting from overseas.
People were walking through the city I live in as a place they had traveled to.
A street that's nothing special to me might be a street someone else walks only once in their life.
Walking among people who were traveling,
I felt a little like I was traveling in my own city too.
