Today we went to
Rokujuan on Rokkaku Street, but
they were fully booked, so instead we ended up at
Umezono CAFE & GALLERY on Takoyakushi Street, a cozy cafe perfect for a rainy day.
We had a very relaxing moment there, and next, we went to Koe Donuts on Shin-Kyogoku Street but it was very crowded, so instead we chose to go to
Kyo-Hayashiya.
Here we had
Ankake kitsune udon first, and next a
matcha latte.
The heartwarming broth of the udon, and the gentle sweetness of the matcha latte softly alleviated the disappointment at not being able to go to cafes we originally planned, twice in one day.
Then, on our way home, we stopped by Starbucks, sat on the terrace seats, and enjoyed a relaxing moment while listening to the sound of rain.
I remember, how many times I have listened to the sound of rain.
Basically, I don't like rainy days since I have to carry an umbrella, and it's a hassle, but I like listening to the sound of rain, because it soothes my mind, ever since I was a child.
Once, I watched a pouring rain, I wished it would stop, because I was looking forward to playing softball.
There was a softball tournament ahead in our high school athletic festival, and we planned to practice for that.
I was really looking forward to the practice, but it would be canceled if the rain continued.
I leaned out of the window, and shouted to the sky, "Stop raining!" and my friend said, "It's no use shouting at the sky".
That is a nostalgic memory from my high school days.
And another time, I just listened to the sound of rain, feeling sentimental.
That was when I lived in my old apartment, I went outside without carrying an umbrella, but on the way, it started rain.
I had to take shelter, and I just stood there, watching the rain and listening to the sound, waiting for the rain to stop.
Somewhere nostalgic, and somewhere sentimental memory.
How many times so far, have I felt these sentimental?
I realized again that this kind of relaxing cafe tour is quite nice on rainy days.
