April 3, 1999 My First Day at Medical School

I attended the entrance ceremony at Kansai Medical University.

It took place at the Faculty of Liberal Arts' Makino Campus.
The campus was quiet and lush with trees, creating a very soothing atmosphere.
If Osaka University has an urban campus and Kyoto University has a campus rich in atmosphere and healing energy,
then the Makino Campus could be considered similar to Kyoto University's in this respect.

As I passed through the gate and saw the rows of trees, I was reminded of the tranquil scenery of Demachiyanagi, home to Kyoto University.
I was captivated by the quiet, peaceful Makino Campus the moment I saw it.
Truth be told... I prefer places like Demachiyanagi, where you can sense the presence of others, to urban settings.

After the entrance ceremony, my goal for medical school is...

"To aim solely for the top."

This "higher" isn't about grades, since I don't find grades particularly appealing.
In high school, my grades were near the bottom.
I studied after graduating, and I got into medical school.
Grades can always be improved with effort.

So I want to put grades to one side for now, and focus on discovering new talents and realizing my potential instead.

I want to spend these six years discovering a different side to myself, with different talents to the ones I have now.
By the time I graduate... I hope that a new version of myself will have emerged, one with new qualities.
